Sharky’s restaurants in Houston area forced to pay $47K in back wages after labor department investigation. A total of 107 employees either did not receive proper overtime pay or had their pay rates drop below minimum wage after being charged for their uniforms, according to findings by the U.S. Department of Labor. Harris County Public Libraries started the month of October by announcing a book sanctuary for banned books. A book sanctuary combats censorship and protects the right to read. The library system says more than 600 of the banned titles are in circulation at their libraries. (link)
